On November 1st, 2025, Guest Kitchen hosted a one-night-only Algerian Long Table at Xberg, Berlin, bringing an authentic Algerian dining experience to the city, a cuisine rarely represented in Berlin’s restaurant scene. The date made the evening even more meaningful, coinciding with a historic day in Algeria’s independence.
The menu was created by Algerian Chef Kamel Haddad, introducing guests to traditional Algerian flavors through a carefully curated multi-course dinner. The evening began with Harira Méditerranéenne, a West Algerian soup of tomatoes, chickpeas, lentils, aromatic herbs, seasonal vegetables and saffron, served with handmade Ftir and Matlouh, alongside Bourek d’Algérie with beef, coriander and cumin.
For the main course, guests shared Couscous Royal with slow-braised meat, garden vegetables and a rich red tomato sauce, accompanied by traditional Algerian leben and a wine pairing. Dessert brought together tradition and a contemporary touch with Oriental Kadaïf with mascarpone and raspberry sherbet, finished with orange blossom and served with traditional Algerian mint tea.
Hosted by Giza and local guest Amine Midoun, the evening also brought stories of Algerian food, culture and hospitality to the table, while Omar Ghannay filled the room with the music of Algeria. Giza added games and her signature Guest Kitchen spark, creating an evening of conversation, discovery and connection.
From the food and wine directly shipped from Algeria, to the stories and music, the Algerian Long Table captured the idea at the heart of Guest Kitchen: discovering cultures that deserve a place at the table and bringing people together through food.
